Advance news literacy instruction
requirements
We support local coalitions working to
make news literacy a statewide priority.
Our role includes building partnerships,
guiding coalitions and helping them raise
awareness and educate lawmakers.
Mobilize communities to
advocate for statewide
requirements that guarantee
students are taught news literacy
before 昀椀nishing high school.
We serve as:
Coalition builder — We bring together school
districts, community groups and local leaders
to build momentum and set shared goals.
Educator and communicator – We support
coalition members in informing legislators and
the public about why news literacy matters.
Subject matter expert – We provide expert
testimony and public insight on the bene昀椀ts of
news literacy education.
Implementation partner – Once action is taken,
we provide resources, training and hands-on
support to help states roll out news literacy
instruction effectively.
NLP never meets with elected o昀케cials without coalition members
present, and we never endorse or oppose speci昀椀c legislation, ensuring
our work stays fully within 501(c)(3) guidelines.
